A full description of these products and specific data configuration options are found in a subsection below. The following table shows which weather elements are displayed on each forecast product tab. The selected product will be highlighted. Weather products with forecast information are available by selecting one of the tabs at the top of the display above the time selector.

Users may advance through time using the arrow buttons or by clicking directly on the desired hour. The Forecast option provides weather information for time starting one hour in the future (rounded to the nearest hour) to 18 hours in the future. The specific hour may then be chosen by the time slider. Users may choose between Forecast and Observations/Warnings. Text boxes must be reselected after moving the time slider in order to update the information. These data are either points of observed or forecast weather, often at airports, or regions of hazardous weather represented by two-dimensional polygons. It’s an inexpensive station, but it is still a lot to spend for no data relay, if that is important to you.Text information for relevant NWS textual weather observations and forecasts is available by clicking on the observation or warning, or by using the “hover” function selected in Settings. If you have big plans about downloading and analysing data, as I did, look elsewhere. So, if you plan to just look on the panel on the spot, you’ll be fine.

And it’s not even on the hour and at half past… and it changes every so often! There are settings on the free weather station software to change that but it does not persist any changes. Then, it is impossible to set the cadence of the readings: when I download data I get one reading every half hour. First, even through the station reports instantaneous wind speed values at 0.1 m/s resolution, when I download them they are sampled to 0.3 m/s resolution. This was the main reason I chose this over more expensive alternatives: that you can just plug in and download data. The data relay, however, is not very good.

The manual tells you never to use rechargeables but I’ve been using my Eneloop rechargeables in there foe six weeks with no issues. Keep in mind you’ll need 3 AA and 2 AAA batteries that are not included. The panel receives info and refreshes every minute or so, which makes for a good live view.

But it was easy to install onto some spare dowel. You’ll need some tubing to mount, it does not come with anything like that. The anemometer spins even in a light breeze and the rain gauge collects and reports back faithfully. This is a well made weather station, even if the materials look a little flimsy at first glance.
